About the American Society for IndexingASI is a nonprofit organization* founded in 1968 as the American Society of Indexers to promote excellence in indexing and increase awareness of the value of well-written indexes. In March 2008 the name of the society was changed to the American Society for Indexing by a vote of the membership. You may wish to read our statement of purpose and objectives, as well as a brief history of the Society. ASI is governed by a Board of Directors elected from among the membership. A list of current ASI officers and board members is online. We also maintain a list of speakers, who are available to give workshops and seminars on subjects related to indexing. Selected brochures are also available in the Member Area for viewing and download. The Headquarters Office of ASI handles member services, routine administrative tasks, and production of our society's bulletin, Key Words. The office is operated under contract by The Resource Center for Associations, which is accredited by both the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) and the International Association of Association Management Companies (IAAMC).
